Each theme may be presented as a weekend retreat, a single-day retreat, or a series of evening sessions.

Orthodoxy: A Primer

Church history, the Symbol of Faith, the Sacraments, the cycle of feasts and fasts, and the veneration of the Theotokos and the Saints.

The preparatory services, the structure of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, and the memorial and commemorative practices of the Church.

The Theotokos & Great Lent

The Mother of God as the icon of the fasting Church, the Lenten hymnography, and the unfolding of Holy Week.

IV · Incarnation

The Incarnation

The Old Testament foundations, the theology of the Incarnation, and the missionary work of the Orthodox Church in the world.

V · Daily Life

Orthodoxy: A Way of Life

A holistic treatment of the Orthodox life: gratitude, the discipline of icons, the domestic church, and the hope of the age to come.

The Icon: History & Theology

The development of the iconographic tradition, the theological significance of the icon, and the relationship of icon to church architecture.

A combination of teaching and Bible study.

Each retreat pairs presentations with periods of reflection and discussion rooted in the Scriptures. Printed handouts are provided to every attendee.
